Peat Shrine

honors the essence of the mire
landscapes of Finland and the
Finnish consciousness
that is rooted in the mire's deep
and minimal nature.

On a more universal level,
Peat Shrine contemplates
the sacredness of the primal
mire - that liminal place where
continuity of life and inevitable
decay merge. One can envision
worlds coming into existence
from the dark, hidden, feminine
source; dying, and ever
regenerating
into new forms.
