2 - Dimensional Work

Between 1984-1992, my works were mostly 2-dimen-
sional drawings of graphite & color pencil. These images
were iconic and symbolic - expressions of the energies of
origins often visualized as the archetypal feminine or
Cosmic Mother. These works were primarily figurative,
and anthropomorphic with a 'mythopoeic' sense - where
one thing could appear as another...
waves that become hills, eggs that may also be moons
and other celestial bodies. The Goddess herself as
an androgynous being.

These drawings have been exhibited in galleries
in the midwest and east coast during those years,
including Ceres Gallery in NY, Arts 901 and Willow St.
Gallery in Washington D.C., Sunprint Gallery in
Madison, WI and the Duluth Art Institute,
to name a few. Many of these pieces are now
within private collections across the country.

Moving into sculptural and 3-D work where my own
body has become 'interiorized' into the forms and
spaces of my sculptures was a natural extension of this
charged female iconography. Rather than representing
the cosmic and earthly feminine pictorially, I now
embody her in my person in live and
video-performances.
